About Our Shop
Based on Vancouver Island, we’re a small, artist-run business committed to helping other artists bring their work to life. We know how important prints are — every detail matters, and we put in the extra effort to make sure yours comes out exactly as you envisioned it. Unlike big-box stores, we combine competitive, affordable pricing with a personalized touch: free consultations, careful file checks, and a dedication to quality you can trust.
Printing & Quality
We specialize in fine art printing using professional pigment inks for archival-quality results, ensuring your prints retain rich colors, depth, and detail for generations. We can print on any paper you prefer, but we constantly stock premium fine art papers — our staple being Red River — and also rotate in Hahnemühle, Canson, and Moab papers. Every file is carefully reviewed and adjusted so that the final piece matches your vision — true-to-color, sharp, and gallery-ready.
Sizes, Shipping & File Requirements
Print Sizes: From 8×8″ up to 17×25″ — cost-friendly and ideal for fine art.
Shipping: We ship nationwide across Canada using eco-friendly materials.
- Tube shipping: The most secure method to prevent damage.
- Flat shipping in rigid boxes: For those who prefer not to unroll their artwork.
File Requirements:
For the best results, resolution matters. A print file should be at least 300 dpi (dots per inch), which is the professional standard for fine art papers. At typical viewing distance (arm’s length — like reading a magazine), 300 dpi provides crisp, accurate detail.
For smaller prints or work meant to be examined very closely, a higher dpi can add value — not necessarily by increasing sharpness, but by allowing for smoother tonal transitions, subtler gradients, and more natural-looking details.
The key factor is your image’s pixel dimensions relative to the print size.
Here’s the formula we use:
DPI = Image Pixels / Print Size (inches)
Or, rearranged to find the minimum pixel dimensions:
Required Pixels = Print Size (inches)×Target DPI
Example: An 8×10″ print at 300 dpi requires a file that is at least 2400×3000 pixels.
We recommend submitting high-resolution, uncompressed files in TIFF, PNG, or PSD formats. If you’re not sure your file is large enough for your desired print size, we’re happy to review it and provide guidance. Our consultation ensures your artwork is prepared for precise, detailed, and gallery-ready printing.
